Questions to consider before choosing

Measure the usable space

External dimensions describe where an appliance fits, not the space available to the cat. Look for interior measurements, opening size and the shape of the usable litter bed. Consider whether your cat can enter, turn and adopt its normal posture without crowding. Photos can hide a narrow interior, so compare a dimensioned drawing with the box your cat currently uses comfortably.

Name the system, then read its limits

Weight sensing, optical detection and pinch protection are different mechanisms with different conditions of use. A list of sensor names is not proof that every cat or situation is covered. Read the current manual for the exact model and revision, including age and weight restrictions. Do not copy a limit from a newer generation, a retailer summary or another brand’s machine.
